Loz grew up listening to the American folk and soul singers of the 1960's. In the 1970's he developed a love of Jamaican Reggae music, British Ska music and the Punk Rock and social commentary of bands such as the Clash.
“I'm basically a folk singer who enjoys many musical styles. I want my songs to tell the listener a story” says Loz. “I hope that some of my songs can truly soothe and heal. I guess that like any artist I want to provoke a reaction, a response, a discussion, a good argument, a warm feeling... something real, something alive and hopefully something beneficial to to all involved. I ask only one thing. Listen to my songs with your eyes closed. Unless you're driving at the time”.

Hope

Loz Lawrey

Lyrical, melodic songs on themes of hope and social justice from an Australian singer songwriter.

Please enjoy the songs on this album. They spring from a yearning for social justice, celebrating leaders who work for the common good and decrying the darkness of those who would divide us and deny our shared humanity. Some of these songs protest

Please enjoy the songs on this album. They spring from a yearning for social justice, celebrating leaders who work for the common good and decrying the darkness of those who would divide us and deny our shared humanity. Some of these songs protest the evils inflicted by the few upon the many. Others honour our human instinct for compassion, inclusion, equality and fair treatment for all. May we never lose sight of hope, our lamp in the darkness, our light on the hill.
